From the PTA: Staff Appreciation Donations

January 28, 2019

Dear Families,

We hope you are having a great 2019 so far and that you have had a chance to recover from the holidays.  Your staff appreciation committee has been busy planning events and special treats for our wonderful staff for the remainder of the year.  Again this year we are going to ask you, our families, to help, so that we can shower our staff with some amazing experiences.  We would like to ask you, if able, to contribute 5$ per Middlebrook student to help us make it amazing.  You can click here to make your contribution any time between now and May 1st of this year.

We appreciate any help that you can give us so we can make staff appreciation week, and a few of the surprises we have up our sleeves a real treat for our staff!  If you are not on MySchoolAnywhere, you can also send in cash or a check in any amount attention to Kelly Mallozzi (PTA)

From the Principal: January 2019 Reminder

January 2, 2019

Dear Middlebrook Families,

There is no school on  Monday January 21st. This is in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

We had some sad news during the holiday break. One of our cafeteria paraprofessionals, Nancy Phillips, died in the loving care of her family.  We did not share this with the children, as we respect that each family chooses how they share the death of someone. Nancy loved working with our students and appreciated the positive energy of our school. Middlebrook will miss her smile.

Wishing you blessings in 2019!

Dear Middlebrook Families,

This Friday, December 21st,  our students will be participating in a school wide sing-a-long to usher in the beginning of the winter break.  This event is for students only.

Students are asked to wear either pajamas or “ugly” sweaters to school on this day.

Dismissal on Friday will be at 1:00 and lunch will not be served.  School will resume on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Wishing everyone an enjoyable break and a happy and healthy 2019!

December 13, 2018

Dear Middlebrook Families,

Bus Tracker Update:

A new feature that is available to our parent community this year is a web-based GPS student tracking app, Durham Student Bus Tracker.  This app provides parents the ability to  view their chid(ren)’s current bus location, including the scheduled and estimated arrival times to your stop.  We are pleased to announce that the app has been activated and is now ready for use. Click here for instructions to download and use the app.

Dear Parents,

You are invited to Open House -Visitation Day at Middlebrook School. This is a day to visit your child’s classroom to get a snapshot of the teaching and learning process. The sessions are 30 minutes each. To help spread the timing of visits, please use the chart below to determine what time you may come.

(Example: My last name is Frillici, so I would attend my grade 2 child’s class from 10:30-11:00.) We encourage you to enter and exit the classroom in a quiet manner, so that the students can continue to learn. Here is the schedule:

Trumbull Public Schools has provided the following guidelines, so that teaching and learning are the priority of the day:

  • We encourage a limit of 10-12 visitors in a classroom at one time.
  • Visits should last no more than 30 minutes.
  • Parent/ Guardian visitations are not open to grandparents, infants, or siblings.
  • Cell phones and pagers must be turned off or set to vibrate while in the classroom.
  • Photographing or videotaping is absolutely not allowed.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed in classrooms.

On the day of the visit, please sign-in in the front foyer. Be ready to show a photo ID and wear a visitor’s tag. Proceed directly to the classroom you are visiting without stopping at other classrooms. While in the classroom, respectfully follow the teachers’ guidelines, so learning is not interrupted. At the conclusion of the visit, report back to the front foyer to sign-out. We thank you for your assistance in making this a safe, positive learning experience for all.

Sincere thanks,
